Mount Airy Middle School's parking lot will have a detour (weather permitting) beginning on Tuesday, September 7. This will impact arrival and dismissal for car riders. It will also change the entrance to the school for staff and students. Students and staff will now enter the door on the sideway near the 8th-grade hallway.
If great weather, everything will be complete in 4 days and traffic patterns will be normal the following Monday.
Drivers are asked to be cautious as the traffic pattern will temporarily change and a portion of the pattern will include two-way traffic.
Additional information: There will be two projects happening at once, one to improve the bus circle behind the school and one to correct a drainage problem in front of the school where students are dropped off.
Bus riders will begin getting dropped off at their grade levels hallway after the project is complete. They will not experience a disruption during the paving.
