Mount Airy City Schools offers two types of pre-kindergarten programs. NC PreK and Cubs PreK. Both of these programs are taught by highly qualified staff members, teach kindergarten readiness, provide free breakfast and lunch, and follow the district's academic calendar.
NCPreK has a separate set of requirements one of which includes where the student lives.
Cubs PreK is open to students without residency restrictions.

Important dates
- March 18th: Pre-kindergarten parent information meeting 5:00 pm at BHT. Come learn all about our two PreK programs! Bring your child, visit a PreK classroom, and meet the teachers! We will be handing out applications for next school year and making appointments for upcoming screenings.
- April 17th--PreK Registration and Screening (by appointment)
If you cannot attend this meeting, you may pick up a PreK application at Tharrington Primary School (315 Culbert Street).
