Getting the financial aid needed to attend college often seems daunting; many don’t even know how to begin the application process. Surry Community College hopes to ease financial aid concerns and answer application questions by hosting FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Day on Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The free event will be open to the public at two locations – Rooms E-146 and E-148 at Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson and Room A-218 at The Yadkin Center, 1001 College Drive, Yadkinville. College aid professionals will be onsite to help participants complete and submit the FAFSA forms for financial aid in the 2017-2018 school year.
Before attending FAFSA Day, it is important to prepare by obtaining a copy of you or your family’s 2015 tax information; student should bring W-2 forms to the event. Additionally, participants should acquire an FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID for themselves and one parent ahead of time at fsaid.ed.gov.
FAFSA Day is provided by College Foundation of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the State Employees’ Credit Union. Visit CFNC.org/fafsaday or call 866-866-CFNC for registration and additional information.
